Because this one is cut loose rather than fitted, it is forgiving on a pug's broad chest. Still worth measuring girth first, as a costume that is too tight around the ribs will make a flat-faced dog breathe harder than it should.

A note on pugs and costumes
Pugs are a brachycephalic breed, which means they cool themselves less efficiently than long-nosed dogs. Keep costume sessions short in warm rooms, make sure nothing sits tight around the neck or chest, and take the outfit off if your pug's breathing changes. Pugs have a broad chest, a thick neck and a short back, so the chest is the measurement that matters most. Use a soft measuring tape and measure snugly, not tight.
- Chest girth: around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Neck: around the base of the neck, where the collar sits.
- Back length: from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
- Weight: helpful as a check, but always go by the chest first.
Compare your pug's measurements with the size chart on the product page. Between two sizes? Choose the larger one for hoodies, sweaters, pajamas and coats so your pug can move and breathe comfortably.
